god is in the details
Apr. 9th, 2010 12:06 pmThis week Stupid Comics stars the greatest superhero of all, God, who as represented by Merlin J. Carothers and Tony Tallarico, is a mercurial genie who can easily help you stop smoking or get wives to pray at the dinner table.

Don't bother Carothers' God with stuff like, say, asking him to do something about the millions maimed and killed in the war Carothers happens to be in the middle of. God only handles the small stuff.
This is one proseltyzing Christian comic that has the exact opposite effect. When I was about 11 I bought this comic from a kid at school along with a lot of Spire and Crusader comics, and I can remember reading it at the time and being kind of bewildered at the petty, myopic behavior of what is supposedly the creator of the universe. Finding the comic again as an adult, I'm appalled by just about everything about it. For one thing, the existence of Tony Tallarico.
