Saw the ALAKAZAM last night; even though we were the first people to buy tickets there was a decent crowd there. Shain won a prize because she had ticket #1! They showed a couple of educational shorts starring monkeys. The Alakazam print was faded and spliced, but got the job done because Alakazam never gives up, he never gives up.

Beforehands we bought comics and I got the last volume of PLUTO, which I thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed one hundred percent. Everything that made Astro Boy great is in this comic - stripped down to Tezuka's basic principles, brought into the real world by Urusawa, including something I had personally always wanted to see, a little moment between Doctors Tenma and Ochanomizu.

Afterwardshands we watched the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who, which I also enjoyed - this series doesn't seem to be nearly as emotionally needy as the previous four, thank goodness. I would have been perfectly happy had they kept the current companion at 10 years old, though. Story was tight, didn't involve vast amounts of handwaving to get from point A to point B, and of course there was the nonsense of "character mentions ominous sounding phrase that foreshadows the season-long story arc that ends in a confusing season finale" that they can't seem to shake. Seriously, is there anybody still impressed with this besides the writers, whom I assume are all patting each other on the back and saying "Aren't we clever, we worked in a mention of the Foreshadowing Climax Protocol Acceptance Hoedown!" But I've come to terms with it. I guess that's the last stage, acceptance.

Today is some house cleaning and arranging and I have shelves that need to go back on the wall. Monday the people from Crazy Joe's come to install the drapes, so I suppose they will need some kind of access to the window, I guess. So we should get that ready. It will be nice to have, you know, what's that thing, privacy?
