We spent yesterday tooling around looking at thrift stores and not really finding anything, but it's fun to shop. Bought a VGA-to-HDMI thing at Canada Computers and it doesn't really do anything that plugging the PC directly into the TV didn't do, so we're gonna take it back. Or we were, until it started snowing

I'll leave the Ultraman out there for a while and see how snowy he gets. We didn't have any big plans to go anywhere today, so I guess we'll stay in and I can get some drawing done. I got in touch with the woman who ran the Anime Hasshin fan club back in the 80s and I should have a Let's Anime all about that club up at some point soon. BTW Let's Anime is ten years old this year! Dang.

I'm just going to say, if that VGA dongle didn't cost too much I'd suggest hanging on to it for your 'travel toolbox'. You never know when you're going to run into a cranky projector.

But cost is a factor. I always carried a 3.5mm plug to RCA socket adapter (along with the Y-adapter for stereo-to-mono and all the other things) in case I ran into a Betamax machine and yes, I did end up using it during a tape cloning weekend but that little adapter was only like $3 or so, not a big deal.

Poor Ultraman. Stuck in the snow.

It was $60, which is too much. It's going back.

I still have my 3.5mm to RCA adapters; at a yard sale in like 1990 or something I bought a big bag of assorted cables and plugs and that purchase has paid for itself over and over again SO MANY TIMES.

!!!

OK, yes, $60 is too much. That's real money. I was thinking it might have been around $20 which I consider 'on the bubble', ya know? $5-10, no sweat. $15-25 gotta think about it some, over $25 is "is this really necessary?" to me.

Mind, that's when I have money. :)

We braved the slush, took the thing back, and turned right around and spent the refund on socks, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, and sports bras.

I dislike slush. My list of winter hate is 1. Ice storm 2. slush on road 3. 'end of season' snow (when it's all black and road grime and terrible and depressing) 4. blizzard.

Snow I like. Light fluffy big flakes that don't stick on the road.
