on Wednesday I get on a plane and zip down to Atlanta for the 22nd annual Anime Weekend Atlanta. I will be doing the following:

the Sunday autograph thing is Jason's idea, I dunno if anyone will actually show up for that, but it's somewhere where people who want to find us will know where to find us, for once.
Looking at the schedule it seems like I've overscheduled myself again, but I'm fairly confident that we're the most prepped we've ever been for things like the SHFS and the Mixer, which typically take a lot of advance work. We're already got two cancellations of SHFS sellers, and one of those open tables has already been spoken for (the other says "I might not be able to make it" and I really don't have a response for that. If he doesn't show up, he doesn't show up.) I sent out a mass email on Sunday to the sellers and have been getting some good questions about what can & can't be sold, and it's always nice to see something like that actually getting read and sparking responses.
People out there are still using Hotmail, that's another thing I noticed.
Anyway I'm more or less ready to go. Gotta print some things, pack some things, find some books for the trip. It will all be over before we know it.

Date: 2016-09-26 07:09 pm (UTC)OK, on SHFS, do you patrol the room and monitor things to make sure nothing is going wrong, or are you stuck behind the table trying to do 17 things at once? Back in 2011 I got there too late to really see much of the action in action. I *was* in time to score a couple of Cowboy Bebop books to fill a knowledge hole in my collection. :)

Date: 2016-09-27 11:44 am (UTC)Last year I printed out the rules on a handout so everybody was on the same page, and I'm doing the same thing this year, and on the back of the sheet is the room layout map that includes the numbered tables. So all the sellers will have a handy guide right in their hands.
Now I think I need to swing by a restaurant supply place and get those little plastic table-number placards instead of me writing on post-it notes. Something to keep in mind for next year.

Date: 2016-09-27 02:27 pm (UTC)Might I suggest a stop at a Dollar Tree and check out the little markers that hold a card (to designate place seating) at weddings? Usually they're fancy chromed plastic and you get like 20 for a buck. 'requisition' a box of blank business card stock, write names or numbers, slot them in the holder and if it vanishes, you've lost mere pennies.
And crap, I can't find them on the web store but I've seen them. I'll have to go look to confirm. And maybe these are the things you were talking about and I'm just an idiot. :)
