There was SO MUCH buried in the show that could have been awesome, if not for the trainee animation and, yes, Nishizaki's love for procedure, make that PROCEDURE!! and taking the viewer on an epic voyage of checklists.
Never actually saw Thunder Sub. Played the heck out of an arcade game that I *think* was actually licensed, one of those 'look thru a periscope and fire torpedoes' shooting games. Digital, not creaky mechanical. God I miss those crappy film strip flying ace games. *sigh*
Fun (probable) fact: It seems Barry Winston (former head of Voyager Entertainment Inc. USA) was involved in selling Blue Noah to the people who made Thunder Sub, as well as being the guy who got CPM to pick up Odin. He didn't care jack s**t back then either. :)
