Con Bravo Stupid Comics

davemerrillSo later today Shain and I are heading out to Hamilton to visit ConBravo! and do a Stupid Comics thing. ConBravo! is usually on this weekend around the end of July, which is also when we usually happen to be on vacation somewhere, so we've managed to make it to every other one of these. The show has carved out an interesting geographic niche both in the real world and in the headspace of convention thinking; it's in Hamilton, a location underserved by fandom gatherings, and its focus is largely on a new class of fan celebrity who have come about due to YouTube commentary videos and the like. The show's numbers have increased every year, so they must be doing something the fans enjoy.
Anyway it's nice to be back at ConBravo! and I'm hoping right now for traffic to not be too terrible on our way out of town. The city is cramming every possible event it can into the downtown area this summer; a bunch of roads surrounding us are closing today because of marathons or races or normal games stuff. It's very crowded. We were walking around last night seeing what was open late for dinner and the neighborhood was like walking around downtown Athens GA on a big Saturday night; people everywhere, either drunk or on their way to get drunk, police eyeing everybody, lines and hollering and car alarms. I like living in the city but this is getting a little nuts.
