At some point there was an attempt to sell the anime series "Tomorrow's Joe" to American television, dubbed as "Rocky Joe". This is the name the show went by in Europe to some degree of success, and for whatever reason I guess localizers felt it could be sold here. Had it made it onto American television, I don't think it could have failed to have an impact - a stylish, gritty sports cartoon without any SF or fantasy elements whatsoever, with dramatic sequences seen on few live-action productions of the time, forget cartoons. Anyway, it didn't. But... here's the English promotional reel.
