We did the SF/Anime Flea Market yesterday. I had to work later than usual last week so I got home late Friday night and had to get up early Sat AM and was concerned at how punchy I'd be, but it wasn't too bad. This was the best crowd yet for the sale. Lots of people lined up before it opened, everybody seemed to be selling, we unloaded a whole lot of stuff. I was thinking I'd need to take stuff down to AWA and sell it at the SHFS but it all sold. All the Sailor Moon stuff we liberated from the thrift store sold. I feel like a real Buddy Bradley "collectibles dealer" kinda guy. Our profit went to dinner and buying grownup-type stuff at Target. I did wind up swapping for some DVDs and buying a few things including this children's LP with great sleeve art:

Came home, took a nap, watched latest Blue Blazes and the fansub of "Govarion" which is a show I never thought I'd see fansubbed. Today there is nothing on the plate, other than drawing my strip and getting things ready for AWA. The schedule for AWA is now live and you can check it out here. I'll be zooming down there in less than two weeks!

Meantimes you can check out the latest Stupid Comics in which a freakish Bowery bum "geek" dreams of handguns to make him all-powerful and enable his street crime dreams.

The prices in that bakery are all screwy. Ten cents for a pie OR a cupcake? That makes either the pie a loss-leader or the cupcake a high profit margin item.

And 'Coffee ring' was another name for donut, right?

I think the whole 'Beals' bit was a last minute edit, that caption with 'Colt' likely slipped thru.

So the semi-autos were possessed or something? I'm not sure I quite followed that thread. :)

I realise we're not exactly experts on the subject in the UK, but I'm pretty sure it's not standard procedure to shoot yourself in the leg during an armed robbery, but rather to point one's firearm at the victim. Perhaps it's a cautionary tale about the consequences of being the world's most butterfingered criminal?

You'd be surprised at how many supposed 'responsible gun owners' shoot themselves or their loved ones accidentally. This latest 'open carry' nonsense, combined with a propaganda campaign on the part of the NRA to convince people they need to carry firearms everywhere they go, has led to an amusing if painful rash of news stories about doofuses shooting themselves in the legs or arms or, in the case of a teacher recently, blasting the toilet while sitting on it. America's responsible gun owners at work!

I see that for Jazz Age NYC, killing time “in every conceivable way” consisted of exhausting a pushcart’s stock of hot dogs.

Also, note the store is so desperate as to, rather than wipe up their coffee rings, instead attempt to sell them for 10 cents. I’m reminded of the Parisian street vendor in History of the World Part One who is reduced to peddling “nothing.”
