Yes, missing some episodes, yes, only the English dub, it may not be the perfect release but dang it's better than that crap Galaxy Express 999 TV series release from awhile back!
Last I heard from the folks involved, who reached out to me as Mister Number One Prince Planet Man, there was a last-minute attempt to get those 'missing' episodes onto the set - a goal that may have been reached, as the release date got pushed back from its initial May date to July for otherwise inexplicable reasons! Could it be the missing episodes were found, perhaps in the trunk of a car somewhere in Europe (that's where they found some episodes of Ripcord, in Europe, not in a trunk). I should have a big Let's Anime piece about the release up when I get all the dirt, the sexy Prince Planet dirt.
I hope this is the case. I really do, it would be so neat!
Release dates get pushed back all the time, generally because the initial solicitation doesn't generate enough sales. Niche product has the problem of being 'tail end charlie' and if there's a slate of more major releases in a month, that eats up the open-to-buy like crazy.
And sometimes publishers suck at doing even the initial solicit.
Yeah, stuff keeps getting found in odd places. It seems South Africa was a kind of hotbed for otherwise 'lost' programming for a bit. Were I on the hunt I'd certainly check the stations in Kenya, pretty sure they had an English language station in Kampala.
