Oh, that Dairy Queen comic/party guide!

I mean, good luck actually getting some DQ ice cream at HALLOWEEN.

Well, wait, I have to think less local. I'm sure there are DQs that are open year 'round, the south, Cali, like that. And this publication is pre-DQ Brazier, the year-round restaurant concept that I think came to be sometime in the '70s.

Here in the wilds of the 'Gan'* DQ shuts down sometime after Labor Day. Which means all those lovely 90 degree Sept. and Oct. days (and they DO happen) are sans the miracle of the Soft Serve DQ cone.

*OK, NOBODY refers to Michigan as 'The Gan'. I'm trying to start something for no good reason.

It was indeed very strange to move Northwards and encounter Dairy Queens, or other ice cream places, that were not open all year round. In the South, it was ice cream time all the time.

Whaaaaaaa? An ice-cream place that isn't open all the time?

Next you'll try to tell me that the rain turns into feathers and the lakes turn to stone.
