Yesterday was my birthday!! So we went to Showbiz Pizza and played a lot of Dragon's Lair. No, seriously, that was Saturday night, we went to the Pinball Cafe and had some excellent ice cream and then played vintage video games and vintage pinball. Sunday we went to the Canadian National Exposition.

ANSWER

This year they added some attractions and seemed to be working a little harder to make the show more fun. There was a sky ride, some new coasters, and we made it down there early enough to see the Superdogs show, which is trained dogs doing tricks for treats, but still fun.

The Canadian Forces were back with big new toys to show off, including this artillery piece that was aimed at the Gladstone, near as I could figure.

And it wouldn't be a CNE without the butter sculptures, which this year included the likeness of a certain Creature From The Black Lagoon.

Shain got me the THIRTEEN GOING ON EIGHTEEN book, which is gigantic and terrific, and she baked a cake, and it was a swell birthday overall.

Whuh wuh? Did you get to eat that butter Creature head? If not, I hope you had a wonderful birthday anyway.

You know, I have no idea what happens to those sculptures after the show. Certainly it's not a very permanent medium. Maybe there's an after-show dinner and they're used to butter the rolls. That would be kinda cool.

Cool artillery piece- looks like an M777 (the US Army uses them too) lightweight 155mm howitzer. Titanium frame, digital fire control, it's the great taste that lays waste!
