If you ever wanted to read a comic book about a toy line about a guy who LITERALLY "jumped the shark", then look no further than this week's installment of Stupid Comics! Every bone in your body will shatter and you will spend the rest of your life in so much pain they'll implant a morphine drip into your spine, but it's all worth it!

What? I can't hear you. The shrill, excited cheers of Dan Bradley have split my eardrums.

If Hollywood had made an animated Evel Knievel TV series at the time I probably would have been all over it. Those Ideal toys were the to-have toy for boys in 1973. Most of my friends back then had one...although I didn't have the upper arm strength to crank the handle on the launcher to power up the motorcycle sufficiently, I wanted one myself. I settled for posters of him on my bedroom walls provided by his motorcycle manufacturer.

For the record, there are two Evel Knievel movies...both pretty lousy. One starred George Hamilton; the other had Mr. Knieval as himself.

Hanna Barbera made "Devlin", which was pretty much an Evel Knievel cartoon. (As seen in "Harvey Birdman")

i'm thinking that unless things have changed really, really drastically, motorcycle tires were not featureless perfect discs back then

I'd say those were cheater slicks, except I don't know anything about tires other than there are tires that are called "cheater slicks" that people write songs about.
