I see my Facebook comment for "International Otaku Day" - in which I said I intend to celebrate by emerging from my basement and knifing a few people in Akihabara - didn't make it past the editorial approval stage. Their loss!

In the meantime you owe it to yourself to come to Toronto for the SF/ANIME FLEA MARKET on September 10 at the Toronto Reference Library at Yonge & Bloor! It's where they hold TCAF. I will be there with a table full of comics, anime VHS & DVD, books, and other cool stuff for you to purchase. You can find out more at the Friends Of The Merril Collection (that's Judith Merril, philistines) website: http://www.thefriendsofthemerril.org/events.html or at their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=209458905768837 . It's during TIFF and it's near Yorkville so there's a good chance you'll see movie stars shopping and driving expensive cars, and if that's not enough to get you out on a Saturday then I don't know what will!

I wish I lived close enough to come to events like that. It sounds like Toronto has a pretty cool anime fan scene! Hopefully someday I'll have the money to fly out to whatever awesome fan events I can. XD

It's not TOO far, it's not a bad drive if you pick somewhere in the middle to stop for the night. Toronto's fan scene is actually pretty huge, there are a lot of different subcultures that overlap. I mean, a couple of weeks ago during that Con Bravo we went to, there was also a Transformers convention that same weekend, and an anime-cosplay-rave thing up by the airport, and all three shows seemed to do pretty well. Lots of folks.
