Some things we're up to for the rest of the season...

July 30-31 is Con Bravo in Burlington, just down the road from Toronto and just across the bridge from Hamilton. Shain and I will be doing a LIVE "Stupid Comics" presentation!! Also appearing: The Nostalgia Critic, a clutch of video game podcasters/reviewers, and a gaggle of cosplayers. The con has moved to a new hotel and as it was fun last year I can't help but think it'll be fun this year.

This is ALSO the same weekend as Kempenfest in Barrie, and some kind of rave thing at the Doubletree. Everything happens at once.

September 10 is the SF Flea Market, to benefit the Friends of the Merril Collection of the Toronto Public Library. It'll be at the main reference library (where TCAF was held in May). Our table is reserved and I can guarantee there will be some pretty nifty stuff for you to buy.

This weekend is Polaris, and I think the Fan Expo is on Labor Day, but so far I've managed to avoid those shows and it doesn't seem to have affected my appetite whatsoever.

AWA is Sept. 30- Oct. 2.

I don't know when the Fantasia festival is, I don't know what they're showing, and I don't know if I'll even be able to go. My work schedule is going to be all over the map for the next two months.

y'all are busy!

I have no idea when I'll see you next. Hopefully Mike will be able to sneak into AWA for at least a few hours at some point, but if the timing goes as we suspect I'll be at Northside or at home for pretty much the whole con.

Kids, kids, kids... I showed "Pong" to Donald and David up here a few weeks back and I did not fail to mention that the film's crazy video-game-addicted brain-shooting tramp is now working on baby #2.

dude, all of my character's actions in that film are perfectly sane. For the time. Which was the 70s. You know.

Do you take donations of bad comics? I have this particularly terrible independently published furry/detective comic from the eighties and I'd love to see what you think of it (don't worry, it's not pornographic, just really stupid)

Cool, I need to find an envelope and something sturdy to keep the comic from getting too beat up (though honestly it was only a quarter or something like that) but I will send it your way!

Fantasia starts this weekend and runs through the first week of August. Unfortunately, the screening of REDLINE (judging from the buzz, the most visually vivid and inventive anime film since AKIRA - yes, really) is during Con Bravo - and during Otakon, which is the same weekend. All the good stuff happens at once:

One thing that I am considering making the trip up for:

That's the problem with Fantasia, at least this year- it took them until now to get their schedule finalized. When I checked their site two weeks ago there was nothin'.

I would definitely watch TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE, but there is no way I am sitting through that 1990 Captain America movie again. Even the Reb Brown TV specials are better.
