Spent a good deal of yesterday moving furniture around in the studio. I think the old work table is going to have to go away. I don't have room for it, really, and I haven't used it as a work surface in a long long time. Mostly it holds boxes of old artwork right now, and I can find somewhere else for those to go.

The shelving is going to get moved around, which means dealing with piles of VHS tapes hither and yon. Except I have piles of LPs taking up space because I needed to take them out of the Expedit to move it around, and I can't finish moving it until I get one of the shelves down from the wall, which means the VHS tapes have to go somewhere.... it's like a game of Tetris in there. Today: dentist appointment. And more re-arranging.

But unlike Tetris, when you complete a 'line' it doesn't vanish! But at least when you fail to stack properly it doesn't pile it on and make a rude noise... :)

The vanishing would come in handy. There's still a bunch of stuff in the hall I need to find a place for, piles of tapes everywhere...

Oh Tetris, if only it was that easy!

We had a similar problem with our living room out here. The solution, if you can call it that, was to send most of the VHS tapes to the attic or the dump.

Eventually they will all be given away, either at conventions or to the Goodwill. I imagine at some remote future date they will be recycled back into the petrochemicals whence they came, bringing the great cycle of life full circle.

The hard part isn't putting the stuff on DVD, the hard part is looking at a tape and knowing there's nothing on it worth keeping, nothing on it that won't come in handy in some context somewhere down the line. Still, the more that gets released on DVD, the easier this gets. MESSAGE FROM SPACE on DVD freed up like 3 VHS tapes (yeah, I had three different off-air copies of it).

I wonder if I could get a Government grant to find a way to turn VHS tapes into usable fuel...

Shit, they have Message from Space on the Netflix streaming now. I can push three buttons and Message from Space will magically appear on my TV at any hour of the day or night. Kind of weird, living in the future.
