Exciting new Stupid Comics at Mr Kitty all about the exciting fresh illin' posse known as the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!

If you completely ignored them in the 90s like I did, now's your chance to get caught up with these exciting energetic well-scrubbed young people. This comic came to us courtesy Neil "Demon Beast Invasion" Nadelman!!

Meanwhiles, I borrowed a projector from AN. I WILL be projecting all kinds of crazy and inappropriate video to the outside world while Nuit Blanche invades our neighborhood! If you're in the parking lot of the Metro in Liberty Village tomorrow night, look up and LOOK OUT!!! Now I need to go to Home Depot and a thrift store.

Watched some of "The Kid Stays In The Picture" last night to learn that Mr. Show NAILED it when they spoofed Robert Evans. Today the sun's out and smiley and all I have to do is remember my dr.s appt. and edit together crazy video.

I remember seeing a promo poster for that movie when I was in Japan once. Over there, they called it "Kutabare! Hollywood," or "Fuck You Hollywood."

Oh, you can go right ahead and project your subversive video, man, here in Grand Rapids we got us a GIANT FLYING PIG sculpture!

GIANT, with 4 jet engines! Sadly doesn't seem to actually fly but it IS suspended in mid-air.

From the guys who made a Loch Ness Monster for the Grand River last year.

I'll go take some pics and mail them to you, it's awesome.

Their reign of terror would continue to hold America in its clawlike grip, ceasing only when they were defeated in battle, their brains ritually consumed by the Spice Girls.

Yes, that's exactly what happened.

I can just picture my sis' room in all it's NKOTB glory 20 years ago, I couldn't stand it since she'd have that "Hangin' Tough" album playing ad nausem.

I remember in the 80's and 90's there were a slew of comics about pop-stars and rock bands and they were all pretty horrible. Some came from publishers like Harvey and others came from rinky-dink short-lived outfits that had that whole "fly by night" air about their output. Some were straightforward tie-ins and others were ::shudder:: parodies of the worst kind.

I remember being put off by the "Rock n' Roll" comics line because they were so poorly done. The idea that, as quick, unauthorized cash-ins, they had no incentive to be anything but available for purchase apparently didn't cross my mind, nor did it stop me from purchasing the ones on Nirvana, N.W.A., R.E.M., and Public Enemy.

I don't know if there's been more than a handful of serious efforts where comics artists attempt to express the actual mood and tone of music; Voodoo Child by Bill Sienkiewicz is what comes first to mind.
