It's a cavalcade of bargains here today because it's Monday morning! Well, actually those two don't have anything to do with each other. But there's a new Let's Anime up that's all about unauthorized usage of anime type characters for merchandise of a unauthorized nature! And over at Mister Kitty there's this week's Zero Fighter page. This will probably be the last Zero Fighter for a month or so, as we are going on our summer break. Probably try to get caught up a little, maybe.
Finally got to see an episode of the 80s Japanese live action series 'Sukeban Deka'. This 80s mainstay was based on a shojo manga and is about an idol singer - I mean, a tough delinquent high school girl- who is forced to work as an undercover cop and investigate crimes involving all-girl high schools and universities, sports clubs, beauty contests, etc. Her special weapon is a yo-yo which is weighted, rolls on a chain, and can be used to deflect arrows, yank people out of the way of falling steel I-beams, and handcuff people, and after she captures the bad guy, she reveals its hidden sakura crest which indicates 'police'.
Though based on a girls' manga this series is pretty obviously aimed at the teenage boy market, our idol singer star's lipstick is always fresh and her schoolgirl outfit never gets mussed, even when doing backflips and fighting evil. I bet this show sold a lot of posters. If you ever wanted to watch a show that was halfway between 'Charlie's Angels' and 'Mito Komon' then by golly this is the show for you.
