Here at STUPID COMICS we have a committment to finding and highlighting all sorts of work, and we try to not let taste or good judgement stand in the way of making fun of a really regrettable piece of publishing. And in spite of the dangers to our reputations and our very lives we are continuing to live up to our Dell Statement Of Quality and present to you a very special, very stupid comic. Ladies and gentlemen, THE SH#@'S ON!! I give you REAL DEAL MAGAZINE.

Warning: this comic is racist, homophobic, demeaning towards women, and contains more violent acts per page than any other comic book produced since S. Clay Wilson went into the hospital. And it's a comedy! Get on the 'urban terror' bandwagon today with STUPID COMICS!

I feel the need to wash by brain out or something... that is a truly foul comics flavor.

Some lucid thoughts as I witnessed the horror:
1) Love the Comics Code censorship on your promo.
2) The builds on the various thugs are remarkably similar to those bulbous jointed builds of action figures. Poses too. Coincidence?

The mind boggles. And I need to go gargle with some bleach now.

I believe the lesson that this comic teaches us is, If you're going to go for your s**t, because s**t be goin' down, don't f**k up and always have plenty of bullets.

I think John Woo taught us that long ago, so it must be true.

Also, Man Gator dong is not nice. Stay away from it.

Johnny Ryan has been hella singin' this guy's praises. Fyi issues of REAL DEAL(!) are available from Picturebox Inc (as well as comics by Benjamin Marra and long time MisterKitty favorite Ken Landgraf!)

The first article I remember that talked about REAL DEAL was in the premiere issue (1993) of the Beastie Boys' short-lived* magazine GRAND ROYAL, that included an interview with Lawrence Hubbard and R.D. Bone and a bonus comic featuring "Jabbo: The Blind Pimp!" Jabbo, by the way, is sort of REAL DEAL's Spidey--the mascot who appears at the upper left of the cover of REAL DEAL #1, even though he doesn't actually appear in the issue.

People sometimes make the mistake of grabbing Jabbo. The reason this is a mistake is because Jabbo's cane is one of those concealed-sword models, and once he knows where you are, he will use it to run you through. Keeping your distance and threatening him with a "gat" doesn't work either, because of Wanda, Jabbo's bottom lady, who shadows her boss with a 12-gauge shotgun. In short, Jabbo has no known weaknesses.

*Actually, it lasted four years; it just took forever for issues to come out. As an editor, I am highly sympathetic.

So, Jabbo is the Zatoitchi of pimps?

That actually sounds somewhat awesome, at least in concept.

I learned other things from REAL DEAL as well:

1.) Mafia guys, when shot, scream "PASTA-FA-ZOO!!!"
2.) "Hump" is a derogatory term for Italians. I thought I knew all the ethnic slurs after reading AMERICAN FLAGG! growing up.
3.) Your trusty old Army .45 is good, but anything is a weapon, really. Steam irons, pots of hot stew, pans of hot fat, loose rebar. Push things over onto people--concrete trash cans, refrigerators. Even an empty napkin holder can be used to gouge somebody's face. Think creatively.
