Went out in the rain yesterday and bought some old comics at an antique mall and a fist-less Shogun Warriors Star Arrow in Guelph, followed by an excellent early dinner. Today: cleaning the condo. Been dusting the Jumbo Machinder size Shogun Warriors and attempting a little repair. I swear, nothing makes you feel more like Professor Kabuto than taking apart Great Mazinger's missile-shooting fist. Gaiking's chest missile-shooter is irreparably damaged, however. Poor design, really.

Everybody should go check out Mike Toole's new ANN column - this one's all about old school anime! http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/the-mike-toole-show/old-cool/2010-05-23 As Greggo pointed out, the first comment is somebody trying to correct him. I don't know what it is about nerds, but you can give them ten thousand words on a topic and the whole time they're reading, their little brains will be spinning like crazy trying to find some little crack in the armor that they can use to jam a little "but you forgot about..." flag in.

I know I complained a lot about the Gardiner closing, but the way they shifted the lanes around, the Jameson entrance works a LOT better. So I guess I should shut up.

Wow, somebody is on Kijiji claming to have purchased a bulk lot of Anime North memberships and is selling them for $30. Since Anime North doesn't sell bulk memberships, this is a scam by somebody trying to unload counterfeit badges. AN has anti-counterfeit measures in place this year, so remember kids, buy your badge FROM ANIME NORTH, not from "some guy in the parking lot". Anime North is not going to sell out.

I have version 2 of Hell disc B finished, the classic anime disc finished, the flyers finished... I'm pretty much done. Let's get this thing over with.

The con-might-sell-out paranoia bug is a weirdly persistent one. I mean, personally I cannot recall any instance of an anime convention having to institute a membership cap, but back when the con was at its old location that was a perennial source of panicky terror among the Animazement kids.

The Shogun Warriors thing reminds me, did you ever make good on the threat to dress one up in little Dollfie clothes and carry him around the con? Always struck me that would be a pretty good gag...

Anime Boston had to cap its first two years, after discovering on the Saturday of the first year that they started out too big for their initial space. Relocated to larger, expandable space the following year.

(ha, ha, I just proved Dave's "nerds must correct EVERYTHING" theory right)

I hate to admit I don't think I can stop myself from nitpicking Toole's article as well. It's just worthy of my two cents!
