It's just weird, is all.

MISTER KITTY'S FOUND SOUND promises to help with America's moral re-armament by hollering UP WITH PEOPLE at the top of its lungs!!

That's right, legions of uniformed folkies march on Washington to proclaim "Let's make everything neat-o!" It's all at Found Sound today. No beatniks.

What else is going on... the latest Doctor Who with the Rubbermaid Daleks was about as weak as you can make 40 minutes of television with WWII Daleks in it. Latest Pacific was an amazingly harrowing bit of war television. They are closing the DVP on Saturday so I'll have to figure out another way to get up to Markham. Stay tuned to this station for further developments!!

Here I was listening to a subversive Phil Ochs album (really!) and you post this as some sort of counterbalance.

Strangely enough, I dreamed I saw Phil Ochs last night, alive as you and me.

the back-up singers' fists remind me a bit of the 'hands-tied-above-the-head' salute from the john hurt/richard burton 1984 movie.

I came across a documentary feature called Smile 'Til It Hurts, which is all about UWP. Man, the allegations...

Being reminded of The Simpsons having done that with "Hurray for Everything", thanks for giving me the original here I hadn't heard in my life!

Still, so far this new Dr. Who business is alright, as far as I'm concerned, weak Dalek episode aside.

(Suggestion for spin-off: Winston Churchill steals the TARDIS and goes on a drunken, snide rampage through time and space.)

I like the new Doctor, I like Amy Pond, the premiere was fine, the second episode was about 3/4ths as good as the premiere, this Dalek thing was about half as good. It seemed both really short AND light on plot at the same time, like there was a second act that got cut or something. It was weirdly unfinished.

I can do a better Winston Churchill than whoever they got, and the constant references to his other, better speeches and other, better films ("Broadsword calling Danny Boy!") were distracting.

Great poster, though.

They really haven't given us the Daleks I want; I want a 30th century in the midst of a long, bitter, galaxy-wide struggle with the Daleks, entire planets of Daleks going about their Dalek business, humans struggling to survive in the ruins of futuristic cities, Absalom Daak and his chainsaw, and of course Ace and her baseball bat.

You got to pay the Terry Nation estate for the rights, you might as well get your money's worth.
