cabin fevered
Feb. 9th, 2014 11:34 amIt's still below freezing here. Yesterday the sun came out and seronaded us, but today it's snowing again. The cat loves it, the snow-covered balcony is her litter box. Sorry, people on the 4th floor. Your meltwater is going to be a little funky. Did I post any pictures of our latest little snow? It was enough to make me take a personal day on Wednesday - when it starts snowing really hard right when I'm supposed to drive to work, that's when I use all my hard-won knowledge of Driving In The Snow, which is that when it's snowing, don't drive.
The ruler says just about 4 inches. Not all that much, really, but enough to cause problems. It should be getting above freezing sometime next week. We're cabin fevering pretty hard here; we went out to the antique malls in Kitchener yesterday and bought a RCA Selectavision disc of 80s music videos, that's how cabin-fevered we are. Don't worry about us, we have plenty of coffee and hardtack and seal blubber, we'll be fine.
In the meantime, you can take a trip back in time with ads for Dr Miles Nervine, from Miles Laboratories, the makers of Alka-Seltzer, which promoted its products through a line of joke books and party game guides. It's all in this week's Stupid Comics!
You can laugh at the latest GEORGIE GIRLS which is all about a forbidden film that the thugs of Political Correctness don't want you to see! To be honest this strip asks some real questions about why THIS film has been singled out, while an almost completely identical film has been totally ignored. Well, okay maybe it doesn't ask those questions, but it at least lays the groundwork for those questions to be asked.
There are also updates to ZERO FIGHTER and BEHIND THE BLUE DOOR - this latest strip introduces a mister who's very bald and very clean- for your reading pleasure. Should be another ZERO FIGHTER tonight sometime before midnight, that's my Sunday meditation, drawing a strip.
