get hip to the now
Jan. 10th, 2014 12:07 pmWhat's been going on? It got really cold everywhere, more or less.
Zero Fighter is back, Behind The Blue Door is back, Georgie Girls is back with a great strip about convention artist's alleys. Go read some comics.
Found Sound is back with Johnny Carson sidekick Ed McMahon singing "Georgy Girl".

Now I want to drink Budweiser and sign up for the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!
And Stupid Comics is back with a fakey quasi-manga about a druid warrior lady who battles demons and monsters with her Burning Chi Thrusts, because that's a druid thing, I guess.

I have actually had some FB correspondence with the artist, who took our abuse gracefully. Now I feel like a big meanie.
What else have we been doing besides staying warm? We watched the end of Giant Gorg, which is terrific, and are moving through Baxinger, which is shaping up and getting interesting, though still kind of feeling how exactly to work with their Shinsengumi backstory. I got the first Lupin III TV series on DVD for Xmas - the one from 1971 - and am enjoying the heck out of it, it's a lot like the Mystery Of Mamo film which is my favorite Lupin. Also for Xmas we got a documentary about the late 60s family pop group the Cowsills, which was the inspiration for the Partridge Family, and their story is fascinating, tragic, and full of clips of the Cowsills on the Ed Sullivan Show, their TV special with Buddy Ebsen, Johnny Cash, etc. So what if it's cold outside, we've got TV!
It's supposed to warm up for the weekend, that'll be nice. I've got a Let's Anime column to finish and some panels to submit to Anime North, and should probably get outside in the sun while it's above freezing. Stay warm everybody!
