that was a fast week
Nov. 25th, 2013 11:54 amIt really did seem like last week went by super quick. Got really cold. Did some snowing on Saturday, but not enough to cause any real problems, not down here anyway. Up north there were some road issues.
Yesterday we went to another iteration of the cards & comics show on Jane & Wilson. It was not worth the trip and if we hadn't had free passes we woudn'ta gone. One guy had eight boxes full of 25 cent comics, all the must have poly-bagged super collectible junk from the late 90s-early 00s. Set it on fire, pal. The only dealer with anything interesting at all had said he'd be bringing a lot of crazy stuff this time, and he didn't. Every other dealer was selling hockey cards and toys. Or trying to, anyway. Lots of grumbling. I feel bad for these guys who have 30,000 comic books and noplace to sell them that isn't this dinky card-infested hole or some Fan Expo celebrity makeover hoo-raw. What this town needs is a one-day $3 comic book show that's nothing but people selling old comic books, end of story.
Lots of Mister Kitty updates to tell you about. Found Sound delivers comedian Charlie Manna at the Village Vanguard in NYC telling jokes about astronauts and crayons and guys trying to sell you nations on streetcorners. I for one was amused to find out that the Village Vanguard chain of shops in Tokyo that's like a fun and funky Urban Outfitters crossed with Spencer's Gifts was named after a NYC jazz club.

Stupid Comics drags in some ads from a 1957 issue of a British womens magazine we picked up a few weeks ago. The advice column in this magazine is surprisingly grim and honest. The ads aren't.
Speaking of comics, Zero Fighter returns with a regular Sunday update, there's another Georgie Girls strip, and Shain brings back her webcomic BEHIND THE BLUE DOOR for another trip to off-kilter fantasyland!
This week it's American Thanksgiving, so remember to deep-fry your turkey OUTSIDE kids. OUTSIDE.
