There's a new Zero Fighter page up, as well as the last of Shain's mini- Element of Surprise bonus stories! This one's only 2 pages, but it'll probably make more sense if you read this sequence from the original story.
The plan Friday was to go out to the sticks and hit one of those antique stores that was closed early last weekend. This place was listed as being open until 5. Lucky I called first and found out it was closing at 3. So we moved our Friday plan to Saturday and spent Friday cleaning the place, looking for a light bulb to replace one under the mirror in the bathroom (an odd size too. Home Depot, Wal Mart, Lowes, Rona, and Home Hardware don't stock it). Saturday we got up and out and made it to Pefferlaw before 3. The place is in what appears to be an old school - a built-in-the-50s style school, all tile and polished cement blocks - so that's pretty awesome. Nothing really amazing in the store though, and I don't blame them for closing at 3. We moved on to Kirkfield and TOMBSTONE TOWN, an impressively-named junk store - oh, right, "nostalgia retailer" - with a slightly better range of merchandise. Got some neat stuff. Pix later. From there we went past the Kirkfield Lift Lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway and through the rocky, stunted tree, scrub brush wilderness to Orillia, just in time to get gas because we were just about out. Dinner in Barrie (a ten minute wait at Kelsey's!! that's the excitement of Barrie) and then home. Sunday I worked all day. No, literally, I was at work all day long. It was the kind of day that as it gets longer and longer convinces you to throw all your ambitious plans of "finding light bulbs" and "cleaning" under the bus. Went to the Counter for dinner in the frosty air and then drew my strip for the week and then kind of collapsed. And that's my weekend!
