Toronto, Buffalo, Danville VA, Harrisburg PA, Baltimore MD, Garden City SC, Wilmington NC, Athens GA, Anderson SC, Charleston WV, Erie PA, home! Not really everywhere but it sure seems like it. Otakon was fun and busy. Saw a bunch of folks, took some pix. We got sunburned at the beach and cooked more than we ate out. Went up to Wilmington to see Lauren and over to Athens to see Devlin and Mandy and Grant and Marie and Julian and Ivy. Stopped that night in Anderson and went to the world famous Jockey Lot the next morning. Later in the day we stopped in Wycheville VA at an antique mall, spent the night in Charleston in time for MAD MEN, hit two antique malls there, a third on I-79 in the mountains, had dinner in Erie PA where a Tim Hortons and a Chick Fil-A are within spittin' distance of each other, and made it home last night about 11:30.

Will probably have pictures and more details in an upcoming post. Right now it's back to the humdrum everyday world...

The Otakon dealers room, while large and enlivened by the ear-splitting musical choices of That Guy Who Sells Yaoi Doujinshi, failed in several respects, notably in giving me the kind of crazy obscure-o old school anime junk that I like to spend money on. Luckily the antique malls of America's Heartland were more than willing to take up the slack.

That's right, it's a Captain Future children's lunch utensil box. Don't ask me what it was doing in a booth in an antique mall nestled in the hills of Coal Dust VA, because I don't know.

The fork and spoon seemed to have gotten a little use. While the seal was broken on the chopsticks, I don't think they'd ever been used. Well, they take practice to master. You can find these for pretty much every show Toei releases, but finding one from a 32 year old cartoon... in the hills of western Virginia... what are the odds?

And of course you can wash your lunch down with a swig from your Josie & The Pussycats mug.

Total cost of both items together: less than $10.
