Over on the FB there's a thing called the Daily Sketch Challenge, and a month or so ago I said, hey, why not, and I've been sketching something every day for it. Sometimes it's a panel from the Zero Fighter comic or another project, and sometimes I just find something interesting to sketch and I sketch it.

I've been working with ink wash on a lot of these, which is not something I usually use.

Some of these are more successful than others, but they're sketches, after all.

I kind of feel like I'm getting my "eye" back, you know that attention to detail you achieve after doing some life drawing, I remember having it when I was in college, and after awhile it just went away and it was difficult for me to concentrate on drawing complicated scenes or objects, as is fairly evident in some of the Zero Fighter pages that will be getting redone at some point. Anyway, I can feel those mental muscles starting to work again, and it's a good feeling. I don't think this is anywhere near as helpful as an actual life drawing class would be, but then again, this is something I'm doing in the mornings when typically I'd be wasting time reading stuff on the internets, so this is at least slightly more productive.

I've always liked your ink line. There is something very you about your brush work.

I haven't done an inkwash in a long time. I starting doing some watercolour in an attempt to do some children's book style illustrations, but the switch in my head isn't happy with them. More practice.
