The entire English-language Mazinger Z record is now up at Mister Kitty's Found Sound, allowing you to thrill to the adventures of Koji Kabuto and his super robot Mazinger Z as they battle Jinrai S1 and the evil machinations of the aptly named Doctor Hell.

Yes, this does contain the famous theme song, as well as the end title and other songs transliterated and sung phonetically by Isao Sasaki, for whom English is not his first language!!

Go and listen to it quickly before one of Dr Hell's mechanical brutes attack! Hurry Koji!

Some fine day I'll be able to actually ask someone about these oddball things, the official English theme songs, the production of the English drama records...

I can't believe the answers will be as difficult to uncover as the history(nay, very existence) of the English dub of Lupin III Mystery of Mamo turned out to be.

Good find, that. I wish Jerry were here for me to send a link to.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry had this stashed away somewhere. I know August Ragone says he's got it.

What I wonder about is, are there weird English-language dubs of Danguard Ace, Captain Harlock, and Galaxy Express to go along with THOSE English theme songs??

Well, we know there's an English drama record for Captain Harlock. I'm sure you remember it, it's a condensed version of the 'tears for a red sweater' story, complete with screechy "YOUUUUUU shoot me Harlock!!" and Harlock sounds 100 years old.

(and I need to get that, it shows up all the time at Yahoo Japan auctions. dammit.)

I don't recall an English version of the Danguard Ace theme but I'm sure you have it.

I could have sworn I remember an English drama record for Galaxy Express but I can't find proof in my notes. Dim memory says it was taken from the 'protozoa planet' episode, where there was this girl who didn't know she was just a piece of a living planet or whatever was going on.

Someone at Nippon Columbia knows. :)

I have never seen pictures of or heard audio from the English Harlock record. SOMEBODY needs to get that thing and send it to me. So I can share it with the world!

I have always wondered what the subject of Dr Hell's PhD thesis was.

It wouldn't surprise me if that isn't actually written down somewhere in all the background stuff. In Japanese of course. :)

It's probably something along the lines of "Mu, Atlantis, Lemuria and the lost arts of the Ancients-science as magic" or some such thing.

I mean "World Conquest via Giant Mechanical Brute- a position paper on feasibility" wouldn't cut it.

I just want to see him and Professor Kabuto at college together. It's pretty clear in most all material Dr. Hell looked JUST LIKE HE DOES all his life. His HS yearbook photo must be amazing. :)
