the weekend of us
Jun. 25th, 2012 12:02 amSo we went out Saturday and did a little walking to acclimate our legs to the walking we'll be doing on our trip. Walked from our place to Roncesvalles, through a neighborhood yard sale where I picked up an Archies single and David Lynch's album CRAZY CLOWN TIME. We went down to Cardinal Rule for lunch, played some pinball at the Pinball Cafe, got some cheap DVDs at the Sally, and walked back.
Sunday the Ancaster Nostalgia Show was in full effect down in Ancaster, the other side of Hamilton, so we went on out there. Picked up some cheap comics and this:

it's Pig Pen, everybody's favorite Peanuts character who hates to bathe. Or loves to bathe but attracts dirt so quickly that it's a waste of time, who knows. I don't really collect Peanuts stuff, but the price, she was right.
After the show we tooled down 6 into Hamilton and had some BBQ at what may be the only good southern style BBQ place in the country, really. Huge portions too. Then we went down Barton St because Barton St is the Street Of Copyright Infringement.

I don't know if I'd feel comfortable sleeping in "Sam's".
However, if you continue down Barton to Stoney Creek you will witness this amazing mural on the side of what appears to be a garage:

The Enterprise VS the Death Star with the Back To The Future Delorean caught in the middle! If and when my car needs work, and if I happen to be in Stoney Creek, I will definitely have it worked on there.

Also that 'Pig Pen' has the look of 'pre-animation' Peanuts, I suspect you got a pretty good deal there.
If the 'Pebbles' laundry didn't have the washers and dryers painted to look like they were made of cut stone I would be very sad. I would forgive not having an octopus as their dry cleaning storage spinner.

Date: 2012-06-27 03:55 am (UTC)There was supposed to be an Albator toy, produced by Atlantic, of the Arcadia (sic) in that crappy rubbery plastic that Airfix HO scale figures are made from. A plastic that you cannot glue or paint.
I need to find one because I have NEVER actually seen a picture of it. I'm not even sure it actually exists. I'm sure it's a total piece of crap. OTOH those figures they make are pretty darn nice and capture the look of the key art very nicely, so who knows.
