This is the sort of comic that Viz has been parodying for years--except I rarely get to see the originals! Come to think of it, that's true for many of their comics, since I didn't grow up reading magazines like Dandy or Commando. I feel a bit like those scholars trying to reconstruct Proto-Indo-European, reading stuff like "Tinribs" or "Jack Black and His Dog Silver," and trying to imagine from those what the original strips were like.
