Yeah, Rango was pretty sharp. Great character designs, clever writing. Timothy Olyphant did a pretty good job filling Clint's boots in the little cameo there.
X-Men First Class does not resemble any comic we ever read at any age, but it does resemble a '60s Bond picture and I kinda liked that aspect of it. Kevin Bacon channeling Dr. No in his submarine lair was cool.
I liked Fast Five. Just about everyone involved on both sides of the camera can and should be making better movies, but I will pay to watch Vin Diesel and The Rock crash cars for two hours. I accept that this makes me a bad person.
Hobo with a Shotgun was interesting in that it didn't really do much of the cute winky shit that Grindhouse and Machete did. It was a pretty faithful attempt to just make a really scuzzy exploitation picture, and it was goddamned unpleasant to watch. Rutger Hauer still has the stuff. I will go see him in basically anything.
I hear the Tinker Tailor movie is well-acted, atmospheric, and takes some work to follow, in which case it is entirely faithful to the novel.
