This would have all been posted earlier but there was a power outage in our building, which meant there was a serious coffee shortage that had to be fixed by me actually walking the two blocks to the Starbucks. But first I had to take a shower, because I am a classy fella.
Tonight is TRAILER TRASH at the Toronto Underground Cinema; Sunday Donald and David are comin' over to compare notes on Anime North and watch something nutty, Saturday I have no idea what I'll be up to. BUT WAIT WHAT'S THIS
Planet Palmerston Yard Sale (Habitat for Humanity and other local charities) Palmerston community yard sale. 10 am-3 pm. Free. Palmerston from College to Bloor, planetpalmerston.blogspot.com.
We missed the big Parkdale neighborhood sale because of Anime North, but I think this Palmerston one is doable...

Date: 2011-06-11 01:43 am (UTC)I was thinking it's weird that I was never annoyed by, say, "Big Daddy?" even though I should have been, as I think its message is bad for our society ("It's NUTS like you who should be LOCKED UP! In fact...you're a menace to our society!!"--sorry, that's from "Somebody Goofed"). Maybe it's because I'm a comics fan, and JTC delivered the goods as a cartoonist. It's the same reason I can re-read Mr. A but not Atlas Shrugged. If an artist has accomplished something worthwhile in the expression of an idea, it can have appeal regardless of whether one ends up agreeing with the idea or not. I can admire a propaganda poster without accepting the propaganda. In that case, of course, it has failed as propaganda, but that just goes to show how complicated "art" is.
What this is getting at, of course, is that a preacher--whether they happen to be preaching Christianity or paganism--needs to learn to preach their message with skill. Wicca has been around long enough that I feel it's just like any other religion--in my experience, both likable and unlikable people practice it, and people can go about it in both an annoying and a non-annoying manner.
