See how comic artists through the ages have enhanced their earning power through the judicious use of swiping at this week's Stupid Comics!

Yes, even Gundam characters are abused in this fashion. It's a sin and a shame.

People still do this all the time -- I can't remember the name of the artist, but there's a comic book guy currently working who does this kind of thing and I saw an entire blog post devoted to his "work" (wish I could find it again).

I like how Garma Zabi and Kai Shiden are in the same group of "students" in that panel.

Sad to think even the best of Howie Post still has to knock from John Stanley. I've learned something new today, thanks Dave, it may come in handy!

I think Lando Harlock will haunt my dreams from now on!

I totally "love" how Lando's face is rendered in a completely different style from his hair. You'd think the artist would have at least TRIED to interpret the Harlock Hair in his own style!

This really amused me, probably more than it should have. You would have a lot to talk about with my friend/professor Bob. He did a hilarious slideshow breakdown of comic errors and swiping in his History of Comics class at SCAD. I think you met him at last year's AWA on Thursday night, briefly. :D

I've noticed that Charlton reprinted their content an awful lot...and they had a habit of repurposing the interior art of stories as cover art for when they did a reprint. Saw it multiple times in their war comics.

I thought he looked like a more tan version of Charles Bronson, personally

Hmmmm, I'll have to check out the war comics I've got in my stash when I get around to reading those!

Yeah, I remember meeting him. I'd love to see that slideshow... if he ever feels like doing it an an anime con, let me know! That's something we could make time for.

My misspent youth...I was in a convenience store in 1980, saw the comics rack, and on it I noticed that the cover of the latest Fightin' Army had a cover that reminded me of a story from an issue I had in 1976. Looked in it and sure enough, it was a cover-to-cover reprint. Only the ads had changed and not necessarily all of them.
