Whole lotta difference between a 12 cent comic you can buy ANYWHERE, every drugstore, newsstand, supermarket, blah blah Vs. a 3.99 comic where one must seek, find and enter the forbidden cave of geekatude, if your city has one, as there is only something like 2500 comic shops left in the US now.

in many ways I also blame that late '80s hard push to the 'graphic novel' and 'this way bookstores will RESPECT us' nonsense, with the $20 and up pricetags. "It'll be JUST LIKE IN FRANCE" some thought, forgetting that those TinTin books were priced as 'cheap disposable' entertainment for the locals, based on the local cost-of-living rates.
