Been working a lot and at weird hours which is why it's been no updates from me. Suffice to say I haven't had a day off in a bit. And that's terrible because ANIME JUMP IS BACK!! Well, okay, Mike posted two new reviews and put some ads up there to see what will happen. WHAT WILL HAPPEN??

Also coming soon - ANIME HELL AWA 2010.

Photobucket

THE YEAR WE MAKE CONTACT!! Actually has not been a lot of reference to that film this year, which is a pleasant surprise. Less than a month remains until Anime Weekend Atlanta 2010! Are you ready? I'm not! Guess what I'll be spending the next couple of weeks doing? Hint: I just posted a flyer for it.

And that's the news, haven't seen any movies or gone on any more trips or bought any utensils decorated with cartoon characters. I have watched a bit of FIGHTING GENERAL DAIMOS, though, and am enjoying it a lot for a show about a truck that turns into a giant karate-fighting super robot.

I am really enjoying our break from Mister Kitty updates and am shamefully not using my time to get caught up on anything. Though I'll probably get some comic pages done this weekend because apparently there will be a few days in there that I don't have to work. Ugh.

Yeah, I was going to ask if you got that email. Worse case scenario, get with Jason and we can show it in a panel room or in Main Events or Kennesaw or something. If Tim wants to narrate it, maybe Kennesaw would be the best.

SOMEBODY SHOULD FANSUB THIS IN THE NEXT THREE WEEKS, I'm just sayin.

Putting money in the parking meter in Montreal: "How much time will I need... well, this IS a Yamato picture... better go with three hours. Be on the safe side."

As it happened, what with trailers and speechifying by festival organizers, we had about five minutes left on the meter when all was said and done...

Remember, the standard DVD and Blu-ray are both on the table. Can't believe I haven't had time to watch either one yet...

Poor Raijin Comics. They were doomed from the start, but their City Hunter reprints were cool.

I'm still confused about CPM and US Manga Corps, didn't they eventually end up under the same corporate "umbrella" or did I hallucinate that or what have you?

Indeed, and the standard DVD is region 2. I really, really hope you can find a spot for this. Lots of people want to see it. (And actually EXPECT to...)

Yeah, they were both part of the same company. Some of their licenses have been rescued by Sentai Filmworks and Section 23.

If you're really wanting to get into old school anime, check out Discotek Media's catalog. They've gotten a pretty decent portfolio and seems to show no signs of stopping.

That poster is amazing. I couldn't make out the green logo in the middle but I guess it must be US Manga Corps, from other comments. Should throw Bandai Visual USA in there but a. they lasted like 6 months so does that even count and b. I have no idea what their logo looked like during that time, nor if they even HAD a logo and c. it would probably throw off the balance.

I mean, want to really go crazy, toss in Newtype USA, Anime Insider, Anime Play...

It is a crying shame that whoever the heck handled the showing of Yamato:Rebirth (yeah, I know, other name but darn it Rebirth is easier to spell!) at the festival isn't savvy enough to throw AWA a special American premier showing.

that's not quite true. there are 3 blu-ray regions: A, B, C.

the good news is that japan and north america are both region A.

the bad news is that europe is region B.

the good news is that it seems people are way less worried about region encoding this generation. i have two euro blu-rays. one is region all cos they only wanted to master the disc once for the global market, and the other says it's region B but it's not.

They had that "Honneamise" logo for their DVDs, but they also used the same "Bandai Visual" logo that the Japanese counterpart uses themselves, the name in white inside a red oval.

And yes, it would've been interesting to add in those magazine logos too.

Glad to hear that. I used to go back and poke around for old time's sake. Was always surprised to see some folk kept posting now and then.
