This summer is speeding by. Last summer we did a lot of "hiking", meaning finding trails to walk on in our tennis shoes, and I figured when the weather warmed up this year we'd be out there all the time, but it hasn't worked out that way yet. Two conventions, rain, last weekend's Anime Hell at Eyesore, and other things have eaten up our outdoor time. Also eating us up were the deerflies we walked right into a few weeks back. Not much you can do about those things, if you're walking in their territory they're gonna swarm around your head and they laugh at DEET.

So we've been working and we went to the drive-in and we've had ice cream and we went to Port Dover and swam in the kinda ucky Lake Erie. We've watched the SDCC and Anime Expo go by and I'm fine not being there; there's a con this weekend that I'm happy to not be at, we dropped into the local literary SFcon a few weeks back and it was quiet and nice to not have any responsibilities at, I was asked if I wanted to do a panel or something for a festival in August and I declined. Otakon is coming up and we won't be there. I have AWA coming up in eight weeks and I haven't even started getting ready and I feel a little knot of stress forming when I think about it, which is a sign to me that I need more time off between events, or I need to learn to effectively deal with how much I fret about upcoming events. I don't know if other con runners just suck it up and deal with it, or if they even feel stressed out, it's not something I've ever heard other con runners discuss, though I have seen the physical signs.
Anyway, I have plenty of personal, stress destroying projects to keep me busy for the next few months, including this story that I am finally in the blue-pencil stages of...

This weekend we might just go to the beach again, and there's a long weekend coming up, and at some point in the fall I think we're gonna try to get to Boston to see our Boston pals. We aren't going anywhere this summer so I'll have a little extra vacation time to do things with in the fall and winter. Stay tuned.
