cannington
Oct. 29th, 2017 09:51 amWent out yesterday to Cannington Ontario for their Haunted Trail attraction, put on by the local Lions and what seems like the rest of the entire town. We showed up at 6:15 to buy tickets, which went on sale at 6 and were limited to 1000, I was ticket #349, and judging by the crowds I think they sold out. The Haunted Maze was in a barn and was okay; a laser tunnel, smoke, noises, disorientation, jump scares, pretty typical stuff. The Haunted Trail was a long walk in the woods, in the dark, with some of the more effective horror-movie character jump scares we've seen in a while. Combined with prop work, set building, and timing, it was a good haunt and one we'll probably go back to. Drawbacks were, it was cold as heck out there and as is usually the case, I am NEVER dressed warmly enough.

We'd never been out to Cannington but it wasn't hard to find, north of Whitby, kind of in that weird no-man's land southeast of Lake Simcoe, not close enough to any lakes to be cottage country, not really on the way to or from anywhere. Pleasant enough part of the province, though.
