So yeah! We're back from our trip. We spent a good long while in the car and at my folks' place in Georgia and then we spent a good long while in the car coming back.

Saturday the 19th we went through Salamanca NY to visit their antique mall. In transit we hit the only patch of snowfall in the Eastern US that nearly slid us right off the road. Salamanca has a big antique mall that used to be a downtown shopping center or something, it's hard to tell. From there we drove through Pittsburgh and down to Beckley WV where we got a cheap motel room. We got up early Sunday and went down towards Asheville NC, across country to Hiwassee GA and thence to the Dahlonega area and onto 400 and then into Atlanta. We stopped at antique malls here and there but saw nothing really outstanding, other than an influx of "Song Of The South" bootleg DVDs sold at prices ranging from nutty to ridiculous and with displays ranging from apologetic to defiant.

In Smyrna we saw the family and a lot of friends. My sister's house was damaged in the big early Xmas Eve storms so they spent most of the holiday along with us in my parents' house, which was fine, there's plenty of room. We got to see the Star Wars with my 7 year old nephew and he really liked it, as did I. We ate a lot of food and did some cooking, everybody seemed pleased with their presents, the weather was disturbingly warm. Rained a lot, but there were some sunny days too.

On the 30th we drove to Birmingham to visit Reed Books and do some junking. If you're in the area Reed Books is well worth the stop, it's right downtown, there's a big Piggly Wiggly head in the window. I was hoping to meet my pal Jeff while in the region, but he wasn't answering his phone and my only email for him is from his old job and if he's been on social media in the past three years he's been very quiet about it. So, we didn't see him. Hey Jeff, drop people a line sometime!

From there we went up I-65 to Nashville and got an expensive motel room and noted the traffic lights every two feet that last for 40 minutes and the amazing selection of dings and dents in every single vehicle. Next morning we met Shain's old high school pal Jim for brunch, and then we headed north towards Louisville. We got sidetracked in an antique mall that wasn't worth our time which meant when we crossed into KY the time change prevented us from hitting the Louisville Antique Toy place which closed its door right in our face more or less. Oh well. We made Cincinnati by dinnertime and stayed with Greg and Melissa and their brood and their friends, ringing in the new year with a game of "Cards Against Humanity". I'm not a big card game or board game person, but that was a fun game.

Friday we stayed over in Cincy, visited the antique mall, did some real mall shopping, watched Melissa buy the Lego Ghostbusters firehouse kit, and had Big Boy (Frish's). Saturday we packed up and headed out; we stopped at an antique mall in Dayton that wasn't worth the stop, stopped at the Armstrong Air And Space Museum in Wapakonetka because it was literally the first time we'd been in Wapakonetka that the place had been opened, and another antique place in Wapakonetka's downtown. Got lunch and then we drove right on through the rest of Ohio and Michigan and crossed the border around 7pm. We were back in Toronto by 11. The cat was glad to see us.

And now it's time to crank up a new year and get back to work! And hey, here are some photos.
