last weekend
Jun. 9th, 2015 11:59 amApparently last weekend's Mac & Cheese festival in our neighborhood was so OUT OF CONTROL that the aftermath attracted the attention of major media outlets. The event planned for 5000, got 46,000, trash receptacles were overwhelmed, streets were crowded, vendors ran out of food. We didn't actually get any Mac & Cheese; we went out Saturday and ran some errands in the city and then I got my bike tire inflated and we did some bike riding in the evening when the crowds thinned out. Sunday we went out to go antiquing and nature walking, and the rain kept us from nature walking, but we did buy some goofy old stuff.

Yes, those are off-model unlicensed Harvey Comics characters on that "play fountain", but that Peko bank is marked "Fujiya" on the bottom so it's for real, I think.
We did do a little back roads driving and saw a big ol' turtle on the side of the road, but when we u-turned to get a photo, he was gone. Smart turtle.
That was the most people I've seen in Liberty Village in, like, ever. Not too bummed about missing the food; apparently they sold food tickets, and the crowds were so large that many vendors ran out of food, leaving attendees with tickets that weren't good for anything.
Next weekend is the Trinity Bellwoods yard sale, and the weekend after that is the Liberty Village yard sale, so expect more junk, I think.
