finally, may
May. 10th, 2015 11:26 amJeez, FINALLY the weather is nice. In fact what's happening is what they call a heat wave, with temperatures up in the 70s and feeling warmer due to the humidity. It's a real change from even two weeks ago.
We went down to TCAF yesterday and caught Lynda Barry's talk and I spent my entire TCAF budget - $20 I found on the pavement last weekend while walking around the neighborhood - on her new book and got her to sign her first book, which I picked up at Oxford Books way back in the day. Great to see her, she's a great speaker and really kind of inspirational in a "get out there and cartoon and to hell with the consequences" sort of way. We gave the main floor a turn but by then we were super hungry so we went to Flo's, and by the time we got sandwiches in us, the show was closed for the day. We may go back today, and then again, I spent my $20 already, and if I want to go to the Hunt Emerson thing I have to get going right this minute, which isn't happening. I kind of feel like I spent my teens and 20s and half my 30s breaking my life to go to convention things, and now I feel like I'm not going to put my life on hold any more for these, any more than I have to. I have grown-up stuff to do on my weekends, boring grown-up stuff. Groceries! Laundry! etc.
This week Stupid Comics takes a look at what YOU need to do to keep yourself safe from fire and gasoline and fireworks and siblings who remove batteries from smoke detector alarms. All of which I've done at some point, and yet a dog in a fireman outfit never appeared to set me straight. I guess we don't live in "Anytown".

Anime North is in two weeks! See ya there!
