So we did drive out to Boston for Mike's memorial. The weather was nasty driving out of Ontario but cleared up on the NY turnpike and wasn't bad the rest of the way. In Boston there were giant piles of snow everywhere and parking was at a premium.
It's always nice to see our friends but this was the worst way to see them. The memorial was held on Friday night at a funeral home in Somerville; lots of Mike's friends from his gaming, from his work, from all over showed up. His parents were there from California and we talked to them for a while. We tried to keep it from getting too sad, but these things, the sadness comes in waves. My suit is still in the closet covered with road salt and who knows what from that night, which was bitterly cold. I thought my giant navy coat could handle it, but I was wrong.
Saturday we went out to a vintage arcade place in New Hampshire, just across the state line from Lowell, and played a bunch of pinball and old video games, which helped to take our minds off things. Sunday we drove back and the weather got steadily worse the further west we went. By the time we hit Syracuse it was snowing pretty good, and the rest of the trip was a slow careful ride past semis in the ditch and crashed cars. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at work were super busy but now it's slowed down some. I'm looking forward to a weekend of watching the snow fall (more snow for Saturday and Sunday) and not doing a whole lot.
There is a new Stupid Comics which looks at a supposed "funny" comic from the mid 1990s that thinks it's making fun of sexual harassment, but is actually just sexually harassing, and there's a new Georgie Girls all about their dirty pillows, and it's not what you think.
