sunday what we did
Nov. 3rd, 2014 12:42 pmDidn't do anything for Halloween. Well, we went to the "haunts" at Canada's Wonderland. Traffic up there was terrible, parking was terrible (though their credit card reader malfunctioned so we didn't have to pay the $20 (!!!) fee) and the crowds were the scariest thing about the experience, which involved standing in long lines for two haunted house type things that were dark rooms where two employees watched you to make sure you didn't steal anything or go the wrong way while one employee would occasionally pop out from behind a wall and say 'boo'. Kind of lame in a very lame way. The 3D movie was a little better, and it was out of the cold so that's a plus. The week after we went, somebody got stabbed. So that was scary. Next year we'll find a different haunt to visit.
But yeah, I work Friday nights and Halloween was a Friday night so it was all over by the time I got home. Saturday we got some half-price candy and watched some scary movies; the 1974 blaxploitation Exorcist ripoff "Abby" (which is actually not a bad film, as Exorcist ripoffs go) and the Hammer lurid, heaving-bosom vampire epic "The Vampire Lovers", which was positively seething with fear of women and their uncontrollable sexuality. Apparently there are three films involving the Karnstein vampire family from this film, four if you count "Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter".
Yesterday I put the car in the shop for some routine stuff. Oil change, brakes, alignment, tire rotation. Got a call this morning and they're gonna change the fan belt too. I am not surprised at all; this is the first time I've changed the brake pads on this car since it was new, and I'd rather get the fan belt taken care of now, rather than have it snap while we're in the middle of nowhere. I should have it back in time to go to work tonight. I do love having a mechanic that is within walking distance of our place.
Here's the pencils and inks for yesterday's Zero Fighter; it's close to being finished, right when I feel like I've finally gotten the hang of working in this style. Well, I can put that to good use fixing some earlier pages.
