AWA 2014 IS COMING
Sep. 19th, 2014 11:39 amHoly cow, in less than a week AWA will be in full swing! This year promises to be really kind of a perfect storm of amazing. There are lots of new events, more Thursday happenings, new guests, main events in one of the Galleria's giant halls, it's a whirlwind of wild. What am I up to? Well, apart from getting autographs and seeing MIQ and Shonen Knife play, here's what I'm up to:
Thursday at 7 we see the return of the SuperHappyFunSell, AWA's anime fan flea market event where fans sell their pre-loved anime merchandise to YOU. You never know what will be sold or for how much!
Thursday at 9 it's time for Old School Classroom where I discourse on what are possibly the most least essential original anime videos of the 1980s. Don't miss this one!!
Friday at 10pm it's time for ANIME HELL. Preceded by Totally Lame Anime, followed by Midnight Madness!
Saturday at 6pm it's a gathering of vintage anime fans as we host a reunion of the C/FO Atlanta anime club! If you were an anime fan in Atlanta in 1987 you might remember us getting thrown out of several libraries for our rowdy anime fan gatherings! I can't promise surly librarians or early ejections from this panel, but anything can happen!
get ready to mix and mingle with your fellow grownups at the AWA Mixer at 9! There's a cash bar, some background music, and hundreds of your fellow anime fans to meet!
On Sunday morning Neil and I will be investigating the world of Candy Candy, the plucky orphan who struggles in the early 20th century midwest to find life, love, and happiness among the turmoil and upheavals of class struggle, boarding school, and World War I.
There's also an Atlanta Anime Con Roundtable at 1pm and a Georgia Philharmonic concert of anime and videogame music and an anisong event and so much more. See you at AWA!
