yes, we are back from our trip to Atlanta for the holidays. Had a great time. We were going to fly, and then said to heck with that and decided to drive. The weather cooperated for the most part, though on Thursday night (Dec. 20) the big blow moving through caught up with us south of Toledo and blew us all over the road. I had to pull off I-75 and let it pass. We spent the night in Cincy and moved on down the road, pausing briefly in Kentucky to visit the requisite antique malls.

THAT little fellow was coming home with Shain, believe me. At any rate we pulled into town Friday evening to the parents' house, which is full of family. Saturday night we went to a holiday party at Suzanne's, and we saw a whole bunch of folks including Elizabeth, Matt B, Jeannie, Matt M, Melanie, Darius, Parker, Jessica, etc. Went to another gathering with old pal Scott W. on Xmas Day night where I got to meet old friends, one of whom is married to comic book writer Peter David, who promptly drove to Florida and suffered a stroke. I am not responsible. Drove to Athens and made our pilgrimage to genuflect at Devlin's feet at Bizarro Wuxtry, saw Elizabeth and CB, saw Randy and Kimberly, saw Grant and Marie and Ivy and Daniel, drove around to malls and thrift stores with Ivy, had Ken's Corner Grill with Neal, saw TRAILER WAR with Darius at the Plaza, took the folks out to eat at Five Seasons, packed up and drove home. We stopped at Cincy on the way up as well and rang in the new year with Greg and Melissa and their brood of girls and visited with them and James and Andy. On Tuesday we headed out and detoured to Springfield to visit one of their huge antique malls, where we were haunted by zombies.

The weather totally cooperated with us on the way back, the fields of Ohio covered in just enough snow to make it all look like a kitschy painting you'd see in an antique mall. Of which there are many. But we kept on going north through clear skies and clear roads. Had the last Skyline available in Troy, had ZERO WAIT at the border at Windsor, and we made it home before midnight.

And now it's the new year! Hope it's happy and healthy for everybody.
