your winky dink
Dec. 1st, 2011 12:27 pmYes, there actually was a children's TV cartoon called "Winky Dink"! Ah, the innocent '50s.
This single still has the Sam The Record Man price tag. Sam was a famous Toronto landmark record store, as seen in every movie that ever panned up Yonge Street and pretended it was New York (I'm looking at you, Incredible Hulk and Half Baked) and sadly it's no longer with us. They are still trying to figure out what to do with the sign, though.
Anyway, you can pretend you're in the cast of "Goin' Down The Road" and you picked this up at Sam's because you like the crazy 50s graphics of Winky Dink, but you have to listen to the songs first!
Look at the back cover of the single - go to the Mr Kitty link and look at that back cover. It's like a PARODY of 50s clip art, right down to the extra-sparkly font and the ugly children. You can almost taste the Red No. 5 in your Swansons TV Dinner.
