Apparently - and this is an apparently at this point as I haven't seen any actual documentation - but apparently Anime Expo has sent a cease and desist letter to the Erie Anime Experience, an anime convention in Erie PA, because the words "Anime Experience" are too close to "Anime Expo". Again, I don't know all the details. In fact this is all I know. I'm expecting this to get a story on Anime News Network at some point.

This is of course kind of a dick move on their part; nobody is going to look at "Erie Anime Experience" and think "Anime Expo". And a "hey guys" letter on their part would have been the best way to start things, not to lawyer up. I understand this is not the first time they've sent C&D letters out to organizations whose names aren't similar to "Expo".

So: if this is true, Anime Expo, this is SO NOT COOL. BE COOL, MAN.

In other news: sarcastic Twitter "anime con pro tips" get their own page. Who is the mysterious "terebifunhouse" who instigates such confusion?

This weekend: Halloween is Sunday! We might just go down to Church & Wellesley and look at the costumes, I doubt we'll be getting any trick or treaters at our door. As they say: All Hell Breaks Loose from 7 p.m. – 3 a.m. on Halloween Night, as the Church Wellesley Village closes its streets to vehicular traffic to host the largest, most electrifying outdoor Halloween event in the city – The Annual Halloween Block Party! Grab a costume and a camera and be prepared to enter the twilight zone as the Village celebrates the Undead by coming Alive with music, dancing and thousands of frightastic costumes!

And of course Saturday is the Meister Markt antique-junk show and sale and Friday night we might go see the POWERHOUSE OF TERROR if our hearts can stand it!!! So a busy weekend of nightmarish horror awaits.
