i know what i said
Aug. 28th, 2010 12:51 pmI swore up and down that after 8 consecutive days of working I would not be going in to work, but I wound up going into work yesterday. The swearing has just shifted over to today. Tomorrow I plan on not being anywhere near the phone. So far nobody's called, so I might actually get a day off.
It's just as well I had completely forgotten that this weekend was the big fan expo downtown in Toronto where you can meet the stars and do whatever it is that people do at big fan expos. I have yet to go to one of the things. I guess if I'm forgetting they even happen, it's not big on my "to do" list. I used to think it was the crowds, but Otakon was as crowded as any Dragoncon I ever went to, and I didn't find myself getting quite as annoyed at Otakon.
Anyway, Shain cooked me a swell dinner for my birthday and gave me a cool present, so my birthday was very nice, thank you. Then we watched more FIGHTING GENERAL DAIMOS including an episode where our hero Ryuzaki has a hard-core two-fisted karate duel with a kung-fu fighting winged alien named Gurney Halleck. Thassa DUNE reference. This episode even beats the episode where Ryuzaki is saved by his pals Kyoshiro and Nana who arrive on a motorcycle with a machine-gun equipped sidecar. If you guessed the 13 year old girl machine-guns a bunch of aliens, you'd be right!
Right now the weather is gorgeous outside: 80 degrees F and sunny. The CNE is happening and the neighborhood is full of families out to get cotton candy, view award-winning cows and butter sculptures, and ride the Ferris wheel. It is the absolute best time to visit Toronto, so if you are ever planning to visit Toronto, mark the last week of August off on your calendars and come see us sometime.
Well, now that I get a day off, gotta go and get to work on all the stuff I've been neglecting during my nine-day work week. No rest for the wicked.
